This spring, WorkQuest faced the challenge of evolving its business operations as required by the arrival of COVID-19. While navigating this unique challenge, WorkQuest maintains its intent to safeguard the daily functions of the WorksWonders Program in an effort to make sure that all operational and financial workflow processes continue without interruption. With the support of our community rehabilitation program (CRP) and WorksWonders Program customers, WorkQuest has been able to provide product and service contracts during this uncertain time, and will continue to do so in order to ensure employment opportunities are available for individuals with disabilities around the state of Texas while maintaining essential services to our customers.
On Tuesday, May 12, the Austin Lighthouse for the Blind shipped its 3 millionth bottle of Purell since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This significant accomplishment was acknowledged with a surprise celebration for employees at the Austin Lighthouse’s warehouse (maintaining strict social distancing and safety measures, of course). WorkQuest celebrated with the Austin Lighthouse as it was recognized for its good work by the National Industries for the Blind and the Texas Workforce Commission.
Last fall, Goodwill Industries of Northwest Texas, a community rehabilitation program (CRP) within the State Use WorksWonders Program, was named “Small Employer of the Year” by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Read More
Martin Becerra has been a valued staff member at ATI for the past three years. He works on a confidential document security contract where his responsibilities include stacking and cleaning the carts of documents brought in daily for destruction, loading empty carts back onto the truck and operating a paper shredder. Now, Becerra is taking on a new challenge as he trains to become a forklift driver.

To aid CRPs in maintaining compliance with these requirements, WorkQuest hosts annual compliance and training seminars.

This Spring, WorkQuest sponsored the annual athletic banquet for the Pflugerville Special Olympics.
The banquet, which hosts coaches and athletes who participated in sporting events during the year, functions as a way for Special Olympics to recognize those individuals who represent the organization throughout the state. Read More

Jamie Chilton, of Beacon Lighthouse for the Blind in Wichita Falls, was recognized by WorkQuest with the 2019 Artie Lee Hinds Award at its recent award dinner. The award honors an outstanding community rehabilitation program (CRP) employee for leadership, dedicated service and commitment to excellence. Chilton, a Beacon Lighthouse employee for the past three years, works as a general operator, helping with the shovel press, drill press, sheeting slitter and other areas around the Lighthouse.
